Sabbath Sounds

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains

And we never even know we have the key."

the Eagles, 1974 On the Border album

It is my experience in my own lifetime with certain things that go on, that I've suffered in silence because I've been stuck in a certain mind frame that keeps me back. It is the realization that I must do something about it that propels me away from the stagnant waters of fear.

"Maybe we are too comfortable, fearful, or lacking in faith. President Thomas S. Monson has counseled us that “faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time, for one will dispel the other”" click here to read more

  1. I love your line "stagnant waters of fear". That is exactly what they are!

For too much of my life I allowed fear to be my motivator--or de-motivator as the case may be. To know that by choosing fear as my guide I am turning my back on the spirit and the Savior has been extremely powerful in my life. Thank you for reminding me.

You are always have wonderful insight.

  3. One of my favorite sayings has always been, "That which doesn't change remains the same," and I always amend it to say, "That which I don't change remains the same." If you don't like where you are, then the only person that can change it is you (with the help of the Lord, of course).

    So, amen, sister!

Chris, thank you--I'm glad that you encouraged me. Hugs back! ;)

Kasey, you are so right! I love how it is within our power to make those changes with the Lord's help! :)

  5. I only recently came to this understanding in my own life. You really can't expect things to change if you're not willing to do something different. And the only way to make true changes is with the Lord's help. Amen and Amen! ;-)

  6. I often find myself in my boat stuck in the stagnant waters of fear. And I question "Why am I here? Why won't someone bring me to shore? I do not like to be here?" And as the other boaters rowing to shore I am jealous of their progress.

I complain that I do not know how to row. That I can't be like the other boaters. I can't do this. But it is only when I pick up the oars and row that I see I can. That i have been the only reason for my lack of progress.
