Writer’s Digest Recognition (and Why It’s Awesome)

by Kasey Tross

Syra has a lot going on in her life right now so she asked me to fill in for her this week, which I was happy to do because I am WAY excited about our appearance in the May/June issue of Writer’s Digest magazine!

See that 101 Best Websites for Writers in the bottom left-hand corner?

(ignore Dave Barry for just a moment, but don’t ignore him completely because he’s hilarious)

Look! There we are!

Ahem. I would like to thank the Academy, and all those who nominated us, and...

Okay, totally kidding. But seriously, I really do want to thank Nikki and the amazing ladies who founded Mormon Mommy Writers. They had a vision for what this blog could be, and I think it’s safe to say that vision is starting to become real life. I’m so grateful for this forum where we are able to connect with one another, share our struggles and our successes, and learn together.

I am also thankful for the opportunity this blog gives us to share our faith with the online community. With my work in Public Affairs for the Church, I have had my eyes opened to the complexity of public perception (or lack thereof) with regards to Mormons, and I wanted to share the video below to help my MMW friends see how we can impact that perception in a positive way.

I think we are already well on our way to being a positive voice for our religion, as well as a great place for not just Mormons, but other mommies and writers to connect. A big thanks to our READERS as well! You are the ones who inspire us to create and to keep working toward our dreams and help you reach yours. We couldn’t do it without you!

    1. Yes, Katy! Oddly enough, in our Public Affairs meeting yesterday we talked about how the word “Mormon” actually means “more good.” :-)
