Reading

By Amber Lynae

I know I'm not the only one out there with her nose constantly stuck in a book.  I don't get in many discussions that do not eventually cover a book I am reading or have read.  My life would be empty with out the stories I read or the stories I write.  Every trip to the store contains a walk through the book section.  There is something comforting about having a pile of books waiting for me.  Some books sit in the pile for months before I get to them others minutes(Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)). I've learned not all books are created equal.

It is hard to limit myself at times.  To remember all of the other things I have to do, cleaning, mothering, writing, painting...etc.  Yesterday for instance I spent ignoring the gym, the kitchen, and the dirt.  I read and read.  My current distraction is Mockingjay.  It steals away reality and makes it hard to escape Katniss's world. If you haven't read the series give Hunger Games a read.... you will not want to stop until the end of the series.

  1. Jealous! Can't wait to read it! And yes, I am one of those with my nose constantly stuck in a book. I have various ones hiding all over the house for whenever I can steal a snippet of time to myself. Currently I have a book on parenting in the bathroom, a biography of Walt Disney in the kitchen, and an Orson Scott Card novel in the living room. I do fine as long as I'm not reading things with similar characters or storylines...then I can get myself confused!

  2. I've heard. It's on my list.

I read when I know my kids are going to need me because I can set it aside and the words are still there, unlike times when I'm writing. I also read when I'm too tired to write but still need a story floating around in my head.

  4. I do ignore the houswork around me when I read. I am impatient when it comes to series. So, yes, I've already read Mockingjay and now I'm paying in laundry loads. All worth the roller coaster ride that book takes you on.

  5. I'm reading Mockingjay right now! Not sure how I feel about it yet...
I usually have to read when the kidlets are in bed, and while hubby is doing homework. It's impossible to read during the day most of the time. :)
