Read any good e-books lately?

At the beginning of the month I read a post on a blog about one Author's decision to indie publish. I definitely suggest you read that post, you can follow this link.
I was so impressed with the author's confidence in her book that I bought it that very day. It was reasonably priced, so I figured it couldn't hurt. I started reading it and didn't want to stop. It was a wonderful read and restored my faith in self-published e-books. But don't take my word for it. Read the description and then read it for yourself!

It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Recommended for ages 16 and above.

  1. Gifts and Consequences by Daniel Coleman. It's like Nicholas Sparks meets oh, I don't know...someone even better than Nicholas Sparks. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. It was exciting and witty and totally made me cry. http://www.amazon.com/Gifts-and-Consequences-ebook/dp/B005CA3ILQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311859410&sr=8-1

  2. I just finished Melanie Jacobson's The List and I really enjoyed it. Sarah Eden's Kiss of a Stranger was another good one. And at the risk of being self-promoting, my new novel, Ribbon of Darkness is on Kindle. Jennie Hansen reviewed it on Meridian Magazine today. :) http://ldsmag.com/books/book-reviews/article/8406?ac=1

  4. I'm currently reading an old public-domain thriller called The Lodger. I recommend it wholeheartedly! From what I've heard, it's really hard to find on paper, but it's definitely available for free in the kindle store. I'm guessing B&N and Kobo both have it in their stores as well.

I also recently read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, which I actually paid money for(!!!!!!!). And before that, it was a christian YA book about a Mennonite girl going to a public high school, which I got for free about a year ago. :)

Next up is probably going to be "The Monk: A Romance". It's a gothic PD book originally published in 1796, and was recommended on the kindle forum. Apparently at the time it was published, injunctions against its sale were put up... It sounds moderately interested...
