Love of Writing-Guest post!

Kristy just moved into my ward recently and imagine my surprise when she said one of her hobbies was writing YA fantasy! I've been really excited to get to know her and can't wait for you to get to know her too! --Nikki

Welcome our guest blogger, Kristy Carlton! Thanks so much Kristy for filling in for us. You can read more about Kristy here, or scroll down to the bottom of the post and follow her link.

Love of Writing:

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” ~Sylvia Plath

One thing that I love about writing is that the world is in constant need of new ideas, new stories, new vision. There can never be too many authors. All we have to focus on doing is making our work the best it can be. That’s why we, as authors, can unite together, share ideas, build each other up. We don’t have to try to beat each other out. We don’t have to feel bad when someone else succeeds, it only need encourage us and make it seem that much more possible that we, too, can succeed! We need more. We need each, individual person. We need you. No one else in the world can give us what you can. No one else can give us your story. Let the world feel your emotions through your characters, let us taste their failures and grow from their triumphs!

“Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.” ~William Wordsworth

Don’t doubt yourself! Just love writing!!!

  1. This is so true. It reminds me of a quote I liked from a post Jenni did a while back. She posted a video from the British Dance Group, Flawless and their motto was, "Chase the dream, not the comptetition." I think that sums it up. Thanks for the reminder. I know getting to know and work with other writers has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I truly feel excited for their success.

  2. Yes, it is exciting to see others succeed. It helps me know that with enough work and motivation I can too. Love your two quotes and love your positive energy. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Welcome Kristy! Thanks for you guest post! I loved the quotes! And you're right, there are always new ideas and angles to explore. And the most amazing part is when you know that you were called to write it! LOL! When you realize that only you can write the idea that came to you! heheeh! That's my favorite! Jenni

  4. This just makes me think about how many of my favorite books have many similarities. However, I love them each differently. This is because even given the same plot no two people will write it the same. And reading to me is seeing the world through the eyes of someone new.

BTW I wanted to let you know that I'm passing on the Lovely Blog Award to this blog. To learn more you can visit my post at www.seriouslyamberlynae.blogspot.com I'm not certain if You accept awards for your blog. But I love reading your posts.

  5. I think this is what draws me to writing too. I'm a competitive person by nature but a very sore loser!! I hate what I become when in the midst of competition (just ask my husband about the last time I went paintballing...it wasn't pretty!) But with writing the only person I'm trying to one up is myself. Plus I really do love the collaborative nature of writers. You all rock!!
