Cold River by Liz Adair

I think it's pretty obvious by this hauntingly beautiful cover that you want to win this book! I'm lamenting the fact that I'm ineligible. :)

About the book: Mandy Steenburg thinks her doctorate in education has prepared her to run any school district - until she tangles with the moonshine-making, coon-dog-owning denizens of a tiny district in Pacific Northwest timber country. She's determined to make a difference, but the local populace still looks to the former superintendent for leadership. When Mandy lands in the middle of an old feud and someone keeps trying to kill her, instinct tells her to run. And though she has to literally swim through perilous waters, she finds a reason to stay and chance the odds.

Check out what other people are saying about Cold River: Susan Dayley: Cold River captures the reader with suspense, romance, jealousy, prejudice, love, joy and paradigm shifts.
Laurie Lewis: Award-winning author Liz Adair makes worlds collide in her newest suspense release, Cold River. . . . Adair’s master storytelling drives this complex mystery about a school district with more secrets than Harper Valley.
Wendy Hines: Liz Adair writes a superb suspense and I can't wait to read more from this very talented author!
Nancy Erickson: You will warm to the many-faceted characters in this story and be surprised when the end comes, believe me! This is a definite “read by the fire” kind of tale for a snowy day and night. Enjoy!
Maria Hoagland: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's the first I've read of Liz's novels, but after reading Cold River, I will definitely reach for more. I loved the alternative sunshine in an otherwise rainy, gray environment. I related well to the main character and found myself literally cheering her on in chapter 28. I liked the love triangle and enjoyed Mandy's paradigm shift near the end. The writing was impeccable, the characters so well-rounded I wondered if they were my neighbors.  It was a believable, enjoyable read and perfect for cuddling up with next the fire this winter!

  1. I already have this book, and I think it's just wonderful. I read it in one day. One of those "can't put it down" stories. Liz is an impeccably detailed writer. I almost could taste the dirty river water Mandy "Stinkbug" Steenburg fell into.

Good luck. Everybody enter this one! If you don't win, buy it!
